Rejected by carriers? The website is one of the most common reasons. Fix it today →

This page is for Constant Contact users who added SMS marketing and saw a message that registration could not be approved. Constant Contact checks your details against state and federal records before you get a number. Your website, terms and privacy policy are part of that review.

10DLC Site is not affiliated with or endorsed by Constant Contact. Provider names are used only to describe where information goes. This page describes the flow as documented at the time of writing (Updated September 2026). Screens change, so follow what you see in your account.

Which registration does Constant Contact use, and who submits it?

Constant Contact uses A2P 10DLC for US senders. You fill in the SMS registration form in your account, and Constant Contact's SMS messaging provider reviews it against official databases. Once approved, you get an assigned 10DLC number. Constant Contact says the number cannot be changed and cannot be your personal mobile.

Constant Contact names The Campaign Registry as the third party that verifies SMS traffic from business numbers. That is the same registry every 10DLC sender goes through. See TCR.

Where do the website, terms and privacy policy go in Constant Contact?

All of it goes into the one SMS registration form.

What does Constant Contact check?

Constant Contact's articles focus on three checks:

  1. Your identity matches records. EIN, business name and address must match your tax records exactly.
  2. You have a valid website. The rejection article says US registrations need one.
  3. You have a privacy policy and terms. Constant Contact says a link to your updated privacy policy and terms of service is required to use SMS.

Carrier reviewers also expect the website to match the business, show contact details, and explain how people sign up for texts. Constant Contact requires explicit SMS consent that is separate from email consent. It sends each new subscriber a confirmation text asking them to reply YES or STOP.

Why was my Constant Contact SMS registration not approved?

Constant Contact's error article, "We weren't able to approve your SMS registration," names the first three causes below. The last two are general carrier checks.

What went wrong What Constant Contact says Fix
EIN too new New EINs can take 2 weeks to 90 days to appear in the database Wait at least 14 days after you receive it, then register again
Name, address or ID mismatch Details must match your tax records exactly Brand and EIN mismatch
No valid website (US) A valid website is needed to complete registration Under construction or parked
Website does not match your business Not named in the article; a general carrier check Website does not match brand
Privacy policy or terms missing SMS wording Not named in the article; Constant Contact requires both documents Privacy policy missing SMS

To try again, go to Settings, open the SMS tab, click Register again, and submit corrected details. If it fails a second time, Constant Contact says to use the Contact support button on the SMS tab.

How long does review take?

Constant Contact says approval usually takes 7 to 10 business days. If your EIN is new, the wait can be much longer while the IRS record reaches the registry. Constant Contact does not list a separate registration fee in these articles. Check your SMS plan pricing.

Constant Contact-specific gotchas

  • Facebook page vs website. The form accepts a Facebook Business page URL, but the rejection article says US senders need a valid website. Use a real site on your own domain.
  • Generated documents. The built-in generator is convenient. Before you submit, read the result and make sure it names your business, covers SMS, and says mobile numbers are not shared for marketing. Hosting the pages on your own site also keeps everything on one domain.
  • Sole proprietors are capped. Without an EIN, you cannot send more than 500 SMS messages per month. See sole proprietor brand.
  • Existing numbers are not opted in. Phone numbers already in your contact list do not count as SMS subscribers. People must opt in to texts.
  • Content limits. Constant Contact prohibits SHAFT content, cannabis, gambling and political campaigns. See prohibited content.

How do I get a website that passes Constant Contact review?

  1. Use a live website on your own domain with your legal business name. See brand name match.
  2. Show the same address and support phone and email you enter in the form. See business contact info.
  3. Serve every page over https. See SSL and HTTPS.
  4. Publish a privacy policy with an SMS section and a no-sharing statement. See privacy policy.
  5. Publish SMS terms with frequency, rates, STOP and HELP. See SMS terms.
  6. Add a signup form with an unchecked SMS consent box and full disclosures. See opt-in form.
  7. Remove parked or "coming soon" pages. See no parked sites.

10DLC Site builds these pages and gives you the URLs to paste into Constant Contact. You still submit the registration yourself, and carriers make the final decision.
