Rejected by carriers? The website is one of the most common reasons. Fix it today →

Postscript is an SMS marketing app built for Shopify stores. Its toll-free verification runs through its partner Twilio, which audits numbers for US and Canadian carriers. If your texts are not sending, or your number shows as denied, this page explains which review you went through and what the reviewer looked at on your store.

10DLC Site is not affiliated with or endorsed by Postscript. Provider names are used only to describe where information goes. This page describes the flow as documented at the time of writing (Updated September 2026). Screens change, so follow what you see in your account.

Which registration does Postscript use: 10DLC, toll-free, or short code?

Postscript uses a toll-free number by default, or a dedicated short code if you apply for one. Its help center does not offer 10DLC.

Number type How you get it (per Postscript) Approval time listed Cost listed
Toll-free (8XX) Assigned automatically at install. Yours alone, not shared About 3 to 10 business days Free. Carrier fees apply, no markup
Dedicated short code You apply. Includes an audit of your opt-in methods About 4 to 7 weeks $750 per month

Fees are as listed at the time of writing. Check Postscript's current pricing page.

Because you are on a toll-free number, your review is toll-free verification, not a 10DLC brand and campaign. The website checks are much the same: a live site that matches the business, a privacy policy with a no-sharing statement, SMS terms, and a clear opt-in.

What information does Postscript use for toll-free verification?

Postscript fills in the verification from two settings pages: Contact and Compliance.

Detail What Postscript asks for
Business registration number EIN for US companies. Non-US companies give their local ID, such as a UK Company Number.
Sole proprietors Business address check. The address is pre-filled from Shopify.
Contact Full name, phone number, and an email on your own domain
Address Full physical address, including suite or unit
Website Your store. It must be live and public for the whole review.

Postscript flags data consistency as a common problem. The registration number documents must match what is stored in your Contact and Compliance settings. If your EIN is under one legal name and your settings show another, expect a denial. See brand EIN mismatch.

Why was my Postscript toll-free verification denied?

These are the denial reasons Postscript lists, with our fix pages.

Denial reason (paraphrased from Postscript) Fix page
Registration number or address incomplete or wrong Brand EIN mismatch
Registration documents do not match your Contact and Compliance settings Website does not match brand
SHAFT content: sex, hate, alcohol, firearms, tobacco, including CBD Prohibited content
Product catalog unpublished or incomplete Under construction or parked
Store not live, or password protected Website not accessible

Postscript says unverified numbers are blocked from sending, including opt-in confirmation texts. So a denial stops your whole SMS program until it is fixed.

How do I resubmit, and how long does it take?

Postscript's resubmission flow is short:

  1. Read the reason shown on your dashboard.
  2. Fix the details Postscript points you to, such as your address in Compliance settings or your contact details.
  3. Fix the store itself if needed: publish it, remove the password, fill in the catalog.
  4. Resubmit in the app. If the denial was only because the site was not live, Postscript says to email its support team once it is.
  5. Keep the site live during carrier review, which Postscript says typically takes up to 5 business days.

The number activates on approval. Postscript does not mention a resubmission fee in its guide.

For a first submission, Postscript says the whole process takes about 3 to 10 business days. Postscript reviews your website by hand first, which can take up to 5 business days. Then Twilio runs a human audit for the carriers. If you are switching providers without moving your number, Postscript suggests installing about 10 days before the switch. For how Twilio reviews websites, see our Twilio guide.

What does Postscript check before your first campaign?

Postscript's compliance team approves your first campaign by hand. It looks at the message content, your website and product catalog, and your toll-free status. Reviews run on weekdays during business hours, per Postscript. Common reasons for denial are SHAFT content, a password-protected site, no product catalog, and an unverified number. Later campaigns skip this step.

What does Postscript want on your website?

Postscript's compliance checklist spells out the pages behind your opt-in:

  • Opt-in wording. Consent to automated marketing texts, including cart reminders. Message frequency, "msg and data rates may apply", HELP and STOP, and links to your terms and privacy policy. See opt-in form.
  • Checkout. For Shopify Plus and custom checkouts, the phone field must be optional, not pre-checked, with the consent text right below it.
  • SMS terms. Program name and description, frequency, rates, STOP and HELP, a line that carriers are not liable for delays, and a link to the privacy policy. See SMS terms.
  • Privacy policy. A section on text marketing, including checkout reminders. Add a clear statement that phone numbers and SMS consent are not shared for marketing. See privacy policy.
  • Footer links. Terms and privacy policy links in the site footer.

What are the Shopify gotchas with Postscript?

  1. Private mode. Shopify puts new stores in private mode by default. Postscript assigns and submits your number at install, so if you install before launch, the reviewer sees a password page. Postscript says the status stays denied until your site is live and can be fully reviewed, and that you should tell its support team when you launch.
  2. Thin catalog. A store with a half-built catalog can be denied. Publish your real products first.
  3. Name mismatch. Your Shopify store name is often a brand name. The EIN is tied to your legal entity. Show the legal name on the site, and keep Postscript's Contact and Compliance settings consistent with your EIN records.
  4. Email domain. Postscript asks for an email on your own domain. Use one on the same domain as your store.

How do I get a website that passes Postscript review?

  1. The store is live and public, with no password page. See no parked sites.
  2. It shows your legal business name next to your brand. See brand name match.
  3. It lists a real address, phone, and domain email. See business contact info.
  4. It loads over https. See SSL and HTTPS.
  5. It has a privacy policy with SMS wording and a no-sharing statement. See privacy policy.
  6. It has SMS terms linked from the footer. See SMS terms.
  7. Every opt-in shows the full disclosure. See opt-in form.

10DLC Site builds these pages and gives you the URLs. You still submit through Postscript yourself, and carriers make the final decision. For other providers, see the any-provider guide.
