Rejected by carriers? The website is one of the most common reasons. Fix it today →

Why was my Omnisend toll-free number verification rejected?

Quick answer

Omnisend sends US and Canada SMS from a toll-free number, not 10DLC. You submit verification yourself under Store settings, SMS. Rejections usually come from a password-protected store, policies that mention sharing opt-in data, unclear or mixed-purpose consent text, a weak opt-in screenshot, or business details that cannot be validated.

Omnisend is an email and SMS platform used by many ecommerce stores, including Shopify stores. This page is for Omnisend users whose number was rejected, or who want to pass on the first try.

10DLC Site is not affiliated with or endorsed by Omnisend. Provider names are used only to describe where information goes. This page describes the flow as documented at the time of writing (Updated September 2026). Screens change, so follow what you see in your account.

Which registration does Omnisend use: 10DLC, toll-free, or short code?

Omnisend uses toll-free numbers for the US and Canada. Its SMS FAQ says recipients there see your dedicated toll-free number. You can also ask Omnisend support about a dedicated short code. Omnisend does not publish short code pricing in these guides.

So your review is toll-free verification, not a 10DLC brand and campaign. Omnisend's rejection guide notes that Twilio requires one business per toll-free number, which points to Twilio as the carrier partner. For Twilio's general website checks, see our Twilio guide.

For Canada, Omnisend says you can keep sending from a local number until the end of 2026. Plan to have a verified toll-free number before January 1, 2027.

Where do the website, privacy policy and terms URLs go in Omnisend?

All of them go in the verification form. Start at Store settings, SMS, then Generate phone number and Verify number.

Step in Omnisend What to enter
Business contact information Real first and last name, a business phone, and an email that matches your website or store domain
Website URL Pre-filled from Store settings, Store information. Check it is your live, public store.
Privacy policy URL Direct link to your privacy policy
Terms and conditions URL Direct link to your terms page
Business registration US business with EIN, non-US business with a local registration number, or sole proprietor with neither
Signup form screenshot Full-screen image of your live opt-in form, up to 5 MB

Omnisend saves your progress, so you can come back later. It also runs an AI check on your screenshot and lists likely mistakes. Omnisend says that check does not guarantee the screenshot is valid.

What does Omnisend check on your website and opt-in?

Omnisend's guide focuses on four things:

  1. A public store. If the website URL is inaccessible or password protected, verification fails. Staging sites and pages behind a login fail too.
  2. Clean policies. Verification fails if your privacy policy or terms say you share or sell SMS opt-in data with third parties, even when your form is correct. See privacy policy.
  3. A real, optional opt-in. An unchecked SMS checkbox, compliant consent text, and consent that is not required to use your service. See opt-in form.
  4. One purpose. If you submit for marketing, your consent text should talk about marketing. Mixing order updates with promotions confuses reviewers.

Why was my Omnisend toll-free verification rejected?

You can see your reason at Store settings, SMS, next to your phone number status. These are the reasons Omnisend lists, paraphrased, with our fix pages.

Omnisend rejection reason What it means Fix page
Cannot validate business website URL URL wrong, down, or behind a login Website not accessible
Could not validate business information Name, address, or URL could not be verified Website does not match brand
Clear and explicit consent needed Consent method too weak Opt-in not verifiable
Messaging consent must be optional Signing up forces SMS consent Opt-in form
Opt-in not provided No proof of opt-in in the submission Opt-in not verifiable
Sharing user data with third parties not allowed Policy or terms mention sharing opt-in data Privacy policy missing SMS
The provided address is not valid Wrong city, state, or postal code Missing contact info
The provided email address is not valid Bad format, unknown domain, or disposable address Business contact info
Single phone number used for multiple businesses One number tied to more than one business Website does not match brand
Age gate is needed Age-restricted products without an age check Prohibited content
Edit time expired You did not resubmit within 7 days Resubmit as a new request

Omnisend also says accounts in SHAFT categories will not be verified.

How long does review take, and how do I resubmit?

Omnisend says a new number takes about 5 business days, and up to 2 weeks in some cases. There is no expedited option. Transferring an existing toll-free number can take up to 2 weeks, and you cannot send during the transfer.

After a rejection you have 7 days to edit and resubmit. After that, you start over and the review clock resets. Omnisend does not list a resubmission fee in its guide. If a number stays in progress for more than 2 weeks, contact Omnisend support.

What are the common screenshot and Shopify mistakes?

Omnisend lists screenshot mistakes that cause rejections:

  • The image is cropped instead of full-screen.
  • The form is shown in a design tool, not live on your site.
  • The website URL is not visible in the browser address bar.
  • The consent text is cut off or hard to read.

For Shopify stores, three more gotchas follow from Omnisend's rules:

  1. Private mode. Shopify puts new stores in private mode by default. Turn it off before you submit, or the website check fails.
  2. Pre-filled URL. Omnisend pre-fills the website from your store information. If that still shows an old or internal store address, fix it so it matches the domain customers use.
  3. Email domain. Omnisend wants the contact email to match your website or store domain. An address on another domain can fail.

How do I get a website that passes Omnisend review?

  1. The store is live and public, with no password page. See no parked sites.
  2. It shows your legal business name and real contact details. See brand name match and business contact info.
  3. It loads over https. See SSL and HTTPS.
  4. Its privacy policy says SMS opt-in data is not shared or sold. See privacy policy.
  5. Its terms cover your SMS program and do not mention sharing opt-in data. See SMS terms.
  6. Its opt-in form has an unchecked box and single-purpose consent text. See opt-in form.

10DLC Site builds these pages and gives you the URLs. You still submit through Omnisend yourself, and carriers make the final decision. For other providers, see the any-provider guide.

Frequently asked questions

Does Omnisend use 10DLC for US text messages?

No. Omnisend's SMS FAQ says it uses toll-free numbers to send messages, and US and Canada recipients see your dedicated toll-free number. Dedicated short codes are available on request through Omnisend support.

Where do I verify my toll-free number in Omnisend?

Go to Store settings, SMS. Click Generate phone number if you do not have one, then Verify number. The form asks for contact details, website, privacy policy and terms URLs, business registration info, and a screenshot of your signup form.

Why was my Omnisend toll-free verification rejected?

Omnisend lists reasons such as an inaccessible website URL, consent that is unclear or not optional, no opt-in proof, an invalid address or email, policies that mention sharing opt-in data, a number used by more than one business, and a missing age gate.

How long do I have to fix a rejected Omnisend verification?

Seven days. Omnisend says you must edit and resubmit within 7 days of a rejection. After that you start a new submission, and the review time starts over.

How long does Omnisend toll-free verification take?

Omnisend says about 5 business days, and up to 2 weeks in some cases. There is no expedited option, and you cannot send while the number is in progress. Contact Omnisend support if it stays in progress for more than 2 weeks.

What should my Omnisend opt-in screenshot show?

A full-screen shot of the live form on your site. Omnisend says it must show your website URL or branding, the phone field, an unchecked SMS checkbox, and compliant consent text. Cropped shots, design-tool mockups, and a hidden address bar cause rejections.

Can my Omnisend consent text mention order updates and promotions together?

Omnisend advises against it. It says mixing purposes like order updates and promotional offers creates ambiguity. Use separate checkboxes for transactional and marketing consent, or submit only for the purpose your form states.
