Rejected by carriers? The website is one of the most common reasons. Fix it today →

This page is for marketers who bought HubSpot's SMS add-on and need approval before they can send to US contacts. HubSpot collects your registration in its own settings screens. Carriers then check your website, privacy policy, terms and opt-in method against what you entered.

10DLC Site is not affiliated with or endorsed by HubSpot or Twilio. Provider names are used only to describe where information goes. This page describes the flow as documented at the time of writing (Updated September 2026). Screens change, so follow what you see in your account.

Which registration does HubSpot use, and who submits it?

HubSpot uses A2P 10DLC for long code numbers and a separate short code process for high volume. You fill in the registration form inside HubSpot, and it goes through HubSpot's SMS provider, Twilio, for carrier review. HubSpot says you do not need your own Twilio account.

Number type HubSpot plan listed Approval time HubSpot gives
Long code (10DLC) Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise, plus the SMS add-on Six to eight business days
Short code Marketing Hub Enterprise, plus the SMS Limit Increase add-on Eight to twelve weeks

HubSpot has separate setup articles for marketing and transactional SMS. Both ask for a website, privacy policy and terms. Because HubSpot sends through Twilio, our Twilio guide explains the upstream website checks in more detail.

Where do the website, privacy policy and terms URLs go in HubSpot?

Open settings, go to SMS in the left sidebar, and click Continue registration in the Phone Number column. The form has three parts.

What you enter Where it goes in HubSpot
Business homepage Website field, in Business details. HubSpot asks for the URL of your business's website.
Legal name and tax ID Legal business name and EIN (US) or Business number (Canada), in Business details
Contact email Point of contact. HubSpot requires the [email protected] format.
How people opt in Opt-in details checkboxes: texting START, a website form, or a paper form
Privacy policy Privacy policy field. HubSpot asks for the live, publicly accessible URL of your SMS privacy policy.
Terms with SMS terms Terms of service field. Same rule: a live, public URL of your SMS terms of service.
Sample messages Two samples in SMS details. For marketing, HubSpot asks that they include your business name, opt-out instructions and a privacy policy link.

HubSpot warns that thin answers in these fields may cause the registration to fail. Describe every way people opt in, not just one.

What does HubSpot (and Twilio) check on your website?

HubSpot's instructions for a website opt-in are specific. The form needs a separate SMS checkbox for marketing texts that is unchecked and not required. Next to it, show:

  1. Your legal business name.
  2. The types of messages people will get.
  3. That message and data rates may apply.
  4. How often you will text.
  5. How to opt out.
  6. Links to your privacy policy and terms.

Carriers also expect the site itself to be live, public, and clearly about the business in your registration. Twilio's guidance for the same review adds that the terms page should sit on the same domain as your website and not redirect elsewhere.

Why was my HubSpot SMS registration rejected?

HubSpot does not publish a list of rejection codes in its setup articles. Based on what its fields ask for, these are the most likely website causes:

What went wrong Fix
Legal name or EIN does not match IRS records Brand and EIN mismatch
Website does not show the same business Website does not match brand
Privacy policy has no SMS section or no no-sharing statement Privacy policy missing SMS
Terms have no SMS program terms (STOP, HELP, frequency, rates) Missing SMS terms
Opt-in checkbox is pre-checked, required, or missing disclosures Opt-in not verifiable
Privacy or terms URL is not live or not public Website not accessible
Sample messages lack your name or opt-out line Sample messages mismatch

If you cannot tell why you were declined, ask HubSpot support for the carrier's reason before you change anything. See campaign rejected: next steps.

HubSpot-specific gotchas

  • "SMS privacy policy" means SMS wording. HubSpot's field label points at an SMS privacy policy. Add an SMS section to your main policy, or publish a separate SMS policy page on your domain.
  • The opt-in keywords are fixed. HubSpot recognizes START, UNSTOP and SUBSCRIBE to opt in, and STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END and QUIT to opt out. Make sure your terms page uses the same words.
  • Check the form before you submit. Whatever form tool you use, the page you describe must already show the separate, unchecked SMS consent box and its disclosures when a reviewer visits.
  • Transactional has its own form. The transactional setup also asks whether you are a financial institution that offers lending. Answer it accurately.

How do I get a website that passes HubSpot review?

  1. Use a live site on your own domain that shows your legal business name. See brand name match.
  2. Show your services and contact details. See content pages and business contact info.
  3. Serve every page over https. See SSL and HTTPS.
  4. Publish a privacy policy with an SMS section and a no-sharing statement. See privacy policy.
  5. Publish SMS terms on the same domain. See SMS terms.
  6. Add an opt-in form with an unchecked, optional SMS box and full disclosures. See opt-in form.
  7. Remove any "coming soon" or parked pages. See no parked sites.
